Welcome to Devonport! This sea-side city is a suburb of Auckland located on the north shore of Waitemaka Harbor.

This map shows Devonport in relation to downtown Auckland. To get to Devonport you can just hop on a ferry from Downtown and cross the Bay, without having to take the bus/car/etc around the peninsula!
Bye Auckland! The brown building is the old ferry building, so beautiful!
Auckland harbor. Huge cruise ships!
The view from the ferry, heading away from Auckland!

Departing Auckland!
Downtown Devonport. After hopping off the ferry this is the first building you'll see.
Tons of beautiful beach around Devonport.

Michelle's future home...one of the many beautiful houses here on Devonport.
So many beautiful houses here in Devonport!

The view from shore. Beautiful huh?
Memorial for the arrival of the Tainui Vaka (Canoe). Maori stories telling how New Zealand came to be populated revolve around the arrival of 7 vakas or canoes. When the vakas arrived in New Zealand from Hawaiki, the ancestral home of the Maori, the members of the canoes disembarked and went on to found the iwi (tribes) still present today.

Devonport, see Auckland in the distance?
Downtown!
They take junk-mail very seriously here.
Reminds me of home! There were a bunch of little art galleries spread around the town, reminded me of Holland or Saugatuck.
Another sculpture I really liked while poking around the local art galleries....
City of Auckland.
Auckland from the ferry! Auckland is known as the City of Sails due to the large concentration of sailboats-the largest per capita in the world!
The beach at Devonport. This is the harbor where ferries come in and out of. Auckland is just a short trip across the bay.
Saying goodbye to Devonport...I'll miss the town but fishing really never was my thing!
